Aquatic Center Rules

Covid-Specific Requirements and Rules for the 2020 Season:

  • No toys, diving sticks, balls, or sporting equipment are allowed on the premises.
  • No coolers are permitted. 
  • No outside food delivery (ie, pizza) is permitted.
  • No deck chairs or tables are available. Patrons are permitted to bring their own chairs or blankets into the facility.
  • Social distancing of 6 feet is to be observed at all times.
  • Patrons are to follow all signs, arrows, markers, and other forms of direction around the facility.
  • No rest periods during scheduled swim sessions.
  • No changing facilities or showers will be available. It is recomended that patrons shower prior to arriving at the facility.

Weather Conditions:

  • Pool will be cleared for 30 minutes (minimum) after hearing the last thunder or seeing the last lightning.
  • Patrons must exit the pool area to the designated safety zones located at Dwyer Senior Center and the Penta Pavilion or their personal vehicles. No exceptions!

Pool Closes When:

  • Air temperature is below 65 degrees (Farenheit).
  • There is an electrical storm for an extended period of time.
  • There are less than 30 patrons in the pool.

General Rules:

  • Children 10 years and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
  • Children must be 11 years or older in order to come to the pool alone.
  • Children under 48" are permitted to swim in the toddler area or in the main pool with an adult.
  • Only ONE child per adult in the main pool at a time.
  • Proper Swim Attire Required -----SWIM SUITS ONLY!!!
  • Persons with sores, open wounds, rashes or bandages will not be permitted in the pool.
  • All patrons must leave the premises promptly at the end of their swim session.
  • No flotation devices are permitted.
  • No horseplay allowed (No running, dunking, pushing, playing on ropes, snapping towels, throwing others, etc.…)
  • No profanity allowed.  This is a family facility.
  • No smoking or alcohol in Cahoon Park.
  • Flippers & Goggles Permitted.
  • No coolers permited in the facility.
  • No glass permitted in the facility.
  • When jumping in off the Side of the pool, jump facing forward and straight off the side.
  • Diving Prohibited in the main pool.
  • No flipping or back dives off the side of the pool. 

Slide Rules:

  • One person at a time - patrons should only proceed down the slide when instructed by the employee at the top of the slide.
  • Lay flat on back and go feet first when going down the slides.
  • No stopping on the curly slide.
  • No swimming in the slide area.
  • Parents may not catch children at the bottom of the slide.
  • Parents may not go down the slide with the child on lap. 
  • Swimmers under 48" must pass a swim test and wear a wristband to use the slide.
  • Swimmers must follow the instructions of lifeguards and pool staff.
  • Swimmers over 48" may be required to pass a swim test at lifeguard or pool manager's discretion.

Diving Well Rules:

  • Passing a swim test will be required of patrons under 48" or at lifeguard or pool manager's discretion.
  • One bounce on the board.
  • One person on the board at a time.
  • Jump straight off the end of the board.
  • Leave the board from feet only.
  • No inward dives (lifeguard's discretion).
  • Must face forward unless doing a back dive or flip.
  • Swimmers must take a swim test if staff deems necessary.
  • Parents are not allow to catch child off boards.
  • No swimming in the diving well unless permitted by lifeguard or pool manager.

Playground Rules:

  • Age appropriate and under 48" - up to lifeguard or pool manager discretion.

The following devices are prohibited:

  • Flotation devices (ie, water wings, inner tubes, bathing suits with built-in flotation devices, life jackets)
  • Glass objects (ie, bottles, including nail polish and beverages, food storage containers)
  • Snorkels and full-face swim masks
  • Chewing gum
  • Footballs, soccer balls, basketballs, tennis balls, lacrosse balls, other similar balls and equipment (no "catch" or similar games permitted in pool or on deck)
  • Coolers
  • Squirt squirt guns, toys, diving sticks

The decision of the staff/manager is final. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Anyone failing to obey the rules or instructions, either verbal or written, may be ejected from the pool area or facility.
