BAYarts January Opening Receptions

Christopher Kaspar: Someone's Past
Opening reception: Friday, Jan 10 from 7-9pm

Using analog photography printed on metal sheets, artist Christopher Kaspar creates new large scale images. Kaspar searches for photographs from the past that seem relevant to current political and social issues. These images are taken from around the world dating from the late 1800's to the 1970's. Topics Kaspar covers with this body of work are family, work, race, and love.

Emma Wolpert: Finding My Home, Finding Myself-Guo' Chu' Chu'
Opening reception: Friday, Jan 10 from 7-9pm

Photographer Emma Wolpert showcases photos she took during her visit back to the orphanage in Huazhou, China, where she lived after being abandoned at a bus station as a young child. Wolpert was later adopted and raised right here. These moving images depict struggle and hope as this young woman finds herself by returning to China. Remarkably, she wishes only happiness for her birth family wherever they are in the world.
