Bay Village Green Team - Waterways Cleanup

Volunteers are needed for waterway cleanup

Wednesday, August 21 at 7 PM

Cahoon Creek (Cahoon Park) - Meet next to the sledding hill

Dress appropriately. Garbage bags, buckets, and a limited number of trash grabbing tools will be provided. A waiver will need to be signed onsite. Please bring any gloves or other tools you wish to use. Look for a Waterways Cleanup sign when you arrive. We will gather there to hand out supplies and sign waivers. Those under 18 will have to be accompanied by a parent or guardian who can sign the waiver on their behalf. No RSVP is required. These waterway cleanups are organized and run by the Bay Village Green Team and sponsored in part by the Bay Village Foundation.

If you are unable to attend the cleanups, you can still help keep our waterways clean by picking up trash on your treelawn and in the street. An estimated 80% of trash littering our waterways originates from land-based sources, like storm sewers, which drain directly to our streams and Lake Erie without any filtration. Many plastics float and are carried into the storm drains when it rains. Removing both large and small pieces of plastic and other trash from the street and tree lawn helps keep garbage from polluting our source of drinking water.
