Automated Refuse and Recycling Program
Allied Waste has provided blue refuse carts and green recycling carts to each home in Bay Village. Containers remain the property of Allied Waste and should not be removed from the residence. Time of Collection: To ensure your recycling and Rubbish materials removal, please place your rubbish and recycling container at curb by 6:00 A.M. Carts may be placed out on the treelawn after 5 p.m. the day before pick up and must be removed by 7 a.m. the morning after per C.O. 521.12(B).
Day of Collection: Recycling and rubbish materials will be picked up on Friday each week EXCEPT when a holiday falls on or before your regular pick up day. Then your recycling and rubbish materials will be collected on Saturday.
HOLIDAYS THAT AFFECT COLLECTIONS ARE THE FOLLOWING:
New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day
Container placement: Place containers within 3 feet of the curb and 3 feet apart, with the arrows facing the street. Do not place carts near mailboxes or other fixed objects.
Note: Do not place containers at the curb prior to 5:00 P.M. on the day before collection. Please remove empty containers within 12 hours after collection.
PERMITTED REFUSE IN BLUE CARTS

• Food Waste - drained, wrapped and placed in a plastic bag.
• Other trash - juice boxes, paper containers, waste paper, etc.
• Sharp items, broken glass, syringes, etc. Place in puncture-proof container prior to placing in cart.
NOT PERMITTED AT CURB
• Large car parts, tires, batteries, etc.
• Liquids
• Extra bags or cans of trash except the first full work week of the month.
NOTE: Contractors are responsible for removal of building materials and debris.

ITEMS BELOW WILL BE PICKED UP ON BULK PICK UP DAYS ONLY:
• 3-32 GALLON CANS OR 6 PLASTIC BAGS OF TRASH OR YARD WASTE
• Household furniture, carpeting, tied and rolled into 4' lengths etc.
• Tables, swing sets, and television sets, etc.
• Refrigerators, freezers - DOORS REMOVED, FREON REMOVED
• Window AC Units and Dehumidifiers, FREON REMOVED
• Washers and dryers
• Christmas trees picked up the first and second full week of January
Recycling Collection Rules & Regulations
A GREEN 65 GALLON CART HAS BEEN PROVIDED FOR ALL YOUR RECYCLABLE MATERIALS WHICH INCLUDE:
Cardboard boxes, newspapers, junk-mail, magazines, cereal boxes, glass bottles and jars, aluminum and steel cans and numbers 1 and 2 plastics.
Place all items loose in recycling cart.
NOTE: Do not jam items into cart or overstuff container. "OR PLACE ANY YARD WASTE OF ANY KIND INTO RECYCLING CART".
ITEMS EXCLUDED FROM RECYCLING COLLECTIONS:
Window glass, light bulbs, drinking glasses, mirrors or ceramics and empty plastic containers that had contained motor oil, antifreeze, pesticides and herbicides. Place above items and empty containers in trash container.
Yard Waste Rules and Regulations
Separate yard waste collection will take place from April 15th thru December 15th on your regular pickup day weather permitting in December. Christmas trees will be collected the first and second full weeks of January.
GRASS CLIPPINGS AND OTHER YARD WASTE FOR COMPOSTING:
All grass clippings and other yard waste should be placed in brown paper yard waste bags not to exceed 50 lbs. Grass clippings and yard waste may also be placed loose in 32 gallon plastic containers marked yard waste. ("Yard Waste Only" stickers are available for purchase at City Hall for $1.50)
DO NOT PUT YARD WASTE OUT IN PLASTIC BAGS OR PLACE YARD WASTE IN THE RECYCLING CONTAINER.
BRUSH AND SMALL TREE TRIMMINGS
Must be cut, bundled and securely tied not exceeding 4 feet in length or 50 lbs.
Note: Landscapers and tree services are responsible for removal of any
yard waste they generate while working at a residence.
