POLICE DEPARTMENT

SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER

School Resource Officer (Part-time)

The City of Bay Village, in a partnership with the Bay Village City School District, is currently hiring for a part-time School Resource Officer.  This position will be scheduled Monday through Friday during the regularly scheduled school day.

The School Resource Officer provides a safe learning environment and valuable resource, fosters positive relationships, provides guidance and education, and develops strategies to resolve problems affecting students.  The School Resource Officer proactively interacts with the school community to ensure the enforcement of city and state laws, preservation of public order, protection of life and the prevention, detection, or investigation of crime. As a liaison between law enforcement and the schools, this position works collaboratively with students, parents, school personnel and community agencies to support teaching and learning in the schools.     

Requirements: United States Citizenship; completion of High School or equivalent GED  (AB, BA or BS degree from an accredited college or university preferred); valid Ohio Driver's license; meet state required age requirements;  must successfully complete all medical, physical, agility, polygraph and/or psychological examinations administered by the City; possess a State of Ohio OPOTA certification; minimum of five years' experience as a police officer, prior experience as a SRO/DARE officer preferred; LEADS certification, firearm proficiency qualification and any other State of Ohio required licenses and/or certifications.

Candidates must obtain the Ohio Peace Officer Basic Training Program Physical Fitness certificate of completion through Cuyahoge Community College Public Safety Training Center.  Click here to view the requirements.

SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD

The City of Bay Village Police Department currently has an opening for a School Crossing Guard.

This part-time position is responsible for engaging children in the community during their route to and from school while encouraging safe behaviors and proper street crossing techniques at marked intersections during school opening and closing hours.

Must be able to work in all weather conditions.  Ability to alternate between standing and walking for up to two hour intervals.

POLICE DEPARTMENT - DISPATCHERS Part-time

The City of Bay Village is currently hiring for part-time Dispatchers.

This position is responsible for coordinating communications between patrol officers, police supervisors, the public and other emergency service agencies through the operation of the Police Department's office and communication equipment and systems. This position is also responsible for monitoring jail operations, greeting and attending to visitor needs and inquiries and performing general administrative duties including documenting the activities of the Department and completion of reports.
